Mitigating Snakebites in Gujarat

Mitigating Snakebites in Gujarat

Overview

Snakebite envenoming is a neglected public health crisis in rural India. VNC works at the grassroots level to bridge the gap between human safety and snake conservation. By providing rapid rescue services, medical training for doctors, and distribution of safety gear to farmers, we aim to eliminate preventable deaths and foster a culture of coexistence.

Key Objectives

  • Provide 24/7 ethical snake rescue services and data collection.

  • Train rural medical practitioners in standardized anti-venom protocols.

  • Educate high-risk agricultural workers on snakebite prevention and first-aid.

Conservation Impact

Recorded a 30% reduction in snakebite-related fatalities in target districts through timely intervention and community awareness.
