This page outlines the data deletion policy for the Croc Watch mobile application, developed by Voluntary Nature Conservancy (VNC).

How to Delete Your Account

To request the permanent deletion of your Croc Watch account and all associated personal data, please follow these steps:

Compose an email from the address associated with your Croc Watch account.
Send the email to: [email protected]
Use the subject line: "Croc Watch Data Deletion Request"

What Data is Deleted?

Upon receiving your request, Voluntary Nature Conservancy will permanently delete the following Personal Identifiable Information (PII) from our backend:

Your Full Name
Your Email Address
Your unique User ID (UID)
Authentication records and login credentials

What Data is Retained? (Citizen Science Research)

As Croc Watch is a Citizen Science project, the sighting reports you contributed are vital for conservation research. Therefore:

Anonymization: All crocodile sighting data (GPS coordinates, photos, and timestamps) will be anonymized. We will strip away all personal identifiers linking the data to you.
Research Integrity: The anonymized scientific data is retained indefinitely for long-term population monitoring and wildlife management by the Voluntary Nature Conservancy.

Processing Timeline

Once we receive your email, your account and personal data will be deleted within 7 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once the process is complete.
